Facebook accounts for 23% of web ads
Audience management firm comScore has sealed the status of Facebook as the to-go source for online advertising, reporting that growing social networking site now accounts for 23 percent of all ad impressions in the US. This number translates to 297,046 billion ad displays out of the 1.3 trillion delivered to online Internet users in the US during the third quarter of 2010.
For comparison, Google marked a dismal 2.7 percent, with 35,043 billion ad displays in Q3 2010. comScore further reports that Facebook’s market share has increased 13.9 percentage points from 9.2 percent in Q3 2009.
